The Lake District is a fantastic place for Gold Expeditions, with beautiful scenery, lots of campsites and miles and miles of paths that criss-cross the landscape, giving plenty of options for an expedition group to plan a route that suites them.
In 2020 our Lake District Gold Qualifying Expedition will be on these dates:
- 10-13 August 2020
Note that participants will need to travel to the Lake District the day before – on the 9th of August. Participants need to be at the agreed meeting point – Braithwaite Bridges campsite, Keswick, CA12 5TF – at 3:30pm on the 9th of August 2020. Pick-up by minibus will be available from the Central Belt of Scotland around midday on the 9th of August 2020. If you are coming by public transport you can get a train to Penrith and then a bus to Keswick, where we can pick you up in the minibus.
The rest of the day on the 9th of August will be spent getting ready: checking equipment, tweaking your meal plans, finalising your expedition aim. On the 10th of August the expedition begins. All of the camping will be on serviced campsites.
The expedition route will be up to you to decide. Potential start points include Keswick, Pooley Bridge and Ennerdale Bridge. You will be given lots of support on advice on where you can go and what campsites to use.
The cost of the expedition is £225 per person and this includes:
- Campsite fees
- Minibus transfer from the Central Belt of Scotland return
- Use of Tents, stoves, gas cannisters and rucksack covers
- Expedition supervision and assessment
- Pre-expedition support to plan your route and agree your expedition aim with your exped team
